A wintry spell has swept across the UK, prompting the closure of hundreds of schools as heavy snow disrupts daily life.
The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for snow and ice across Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales, with northern Scotland, south-east Wales, and Yorkshire among the worst affected. Some schools will remain closed for the full day, while others will shut only for part of the day.

Transport has also been severely impacted, with travel warnings in place. In Pembrokeshire, Wales, residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary journeys. BBC Wales’ Aled Scourfield commented: “This is certainly the heaviest snowfall I’ve seen in this part of Pembrokeshire since I moved here almost 20 years ago.”
Forecasters predict that the North York Moors and parts of the Yorkshire Wolds could see the heaviest snow today, with between 15 and 25cm expected on higher ground. Temperatures are set to range between 2C and 6C, making it essential to wrap up warmly and exercise caution when travelling.

Readers are encouraged to share their snow photos and videos with Newsround to showcase conditions across the country.
