US politicians are ramping up pressure on Prince Andrew, Duke of York, to face questions from a Congressional committee regarding his connections to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
According to reports, American lawmakers want Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to provide testimony as part of a broader investigation into Epstein’s network and the individuals who maintained ties with him before and after his conviction.
The calls come amid renewed scrutiny of Epstein’s associates following the release of previously sealed court documents earlier this year.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Prince Andrew could receive a six-figure payment from King Charles III to facilitate his relocation from the Royal Lodge in Windsor. The move is part of the King’s ongoing efforts to streamline royal finances and reduce costs linked to underused royal properties.
The renewed political pressure in the United States adds to ongoing public interest in the Duke’s past association with Epstein. Prince Andrew stepped back from royal duties in 2019 following widespread criticism of his friendship with the disgraced financier, which he later described as a mistake.
Jeffrey Epstein, a financier and convicted sex offender, was arrested in July 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking minors. His death in prison a month later, ruled a suicide, led to global outrage and prompted several investigations into his extensive network of high-profile associates.
Prince Andrew’s connection to Epstein has remained one of the most controversial royal scandals in recent history. In 2022, the Duke reached a confidential out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who had accused him of sexual assault — allegations he consistently denied.
The US investigation into Epstein’s crimes continues, and lawmakers have expressed frustration that key individuals linked to him, including Prince Andrew, have not yet provided evidence under oath.
If the Congressional committee proceeds with formal requests, it could mark the first time a senior member of the British royal family is asked to cooperate directly with US authorities in connection to the Epstein case.
