A Saudi student, identified as Mohammed Al-Qassem, was stabbed to death in Cambridge while walking to his accommodation on Friday night, according to a report by Al Arabiya. The tragic incident occurred near Mill Park, where police were called to respond to reports of violence shortly before midnight.
Al-Qassem, who was 20 years old and enrolled at a language institute in Cambridge, was pronounced dead shortly after 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, local police confirmed. The motive behind the fatal attack remains unclear.
Police Investigation and Arrests
In a statement released by Cambridge Police, two men have been arrested in connection with the incident. A 21-year-old man from Cambridge has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both suspects are currently in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.
While police did not initially confirm the victim’s identity or nationality, multiple media outlets, including Al Arabiya, have confirmed that the deceased is Mohammed Al-Qassem, a Saudi student.
