Three additional arrests have been made in connection with the Edinburgh-Glasgow gang feud, bringing the total number of individuals detained to 47 as Police Scotland intensifies its crackdown on escalating organised crime across the two cities.
Two men, aged 20 and 26, have been charged with the attempted murder of a 54-year-old man in an incident that occurred on Pitcairn Grove, Edinburgh, last month. A third suspect, also 26, was arrested over a deliberate fire at a property on Albert Drive, in addition to multiple outstanding warrants.
Investigators recovered a vehicle and a firearm believed to have been used in the recent wave of violence tied to the feud, which spans arson, shootings, and serious assaults.
Ongoing Police Operations
Local officers, supported by the Specialist Crime Division, are continuing efforts to gather evidence and offer reassurance to communities affected by the unrest.
Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Ferry stated: “This activity highlights our continued commitment to tackling organised crime, and we are following several positive lines of inquiry. However, we still need further support from local communities as the investigation progresses.”
Timeline of Gang-Related Violence
The gang feud erupted on 2 March with a car fire in Edinburgh’s Parrotshot area, followed by attacks on a beauty salon in Leith and a garage in Portobello. Gunshots were later reported at homes in Niddrie and Pilton.
April saw further escalation with a firebomb attack in Niddrie and arson targeting commercial and residential properties in Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Stepps, and Glasgow.
A 72-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy were assaulted during a home invasion in Milton, Glasgow. Days later, two more homes in Bishopbriggs were set ablaze.
On 19 May, two men were seriously injured in an assault at a garage in East Kilbride. The 54-year-old victim in Pitcairn Grove was also hospitalised after a brutal gang attack.
Most recently, a large home in Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire, was deliberately set on fire on 2 June.
Police have urged residents across affected areas to come forward with any information that may aid the ongoing investigation.
