The Welsh Government is investing more than £44 million over the next three years to support key priorities in education across Wales.
The funding aims to enhance literacy, numeracy, science, and creative learning, ensuring pupils receive high-quality, consistent support in schools and nurseries.
Grants have been awarded to a diverse range of organisations, including universities, public bodies, charities, and private firms. The funding will provide schools with expert training, resources, and materials needed to deliver an engaging and challenging curriculum.
The investment focuses on several national priorities:
- Improving maths and numeracy skills among children
- Strengthening science teaching across schools
- Supporting schools in creating innovative and effective curriculums
- Continuing the National Music Service, widening access to music education
- Enhancing nursery education for early years development
- Offering consistent, expert-led support for Relationships and Sexuality Education across Wales
- Encouraging creativity and expressive learning in the classroom
In addition to the current funding, the Cabinet Secretary for Education has launched a new call for proposals, offering up to £11.9 million to support further educational initiatives. This includes projects aimed at:
- Building pupils’ computing and digital skills
- Developing primary maths teaching strategies
- Boosting literacy through improved speech, language, and reading support
This significant investment reflects the Welsh Government’s commitment to raising educational standards and reducing disparities. By equipping educators with the tools and expertise they need, the programme aims to ensure all learners in Wales receive the best possible start, regardless of background.
