A fourth man has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into a series of arson attacks targeting properties linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
The 48-year-old suspect was detained at London’s Stansted Airport on Monday after being stopped under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000. He was later arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.
The arrest is connected to three separate fires in North London this May — including one at Starmer’s current private residence in Kentish Town, another at a vehicle parked nearby, and a third at his former address in Islington.
Suspect in custody as police probe continues
The man, who has not been named, is being held at a police station in London. Investigators believe the attacks were deliberately coordinated and intended to cause serious harm.
Three men have already been charged in relation to the incidents: Petro Pochynok, 34, Roman Lavrynovych, 21, and Stanislav Carpiuc, 26. All three are due to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday.
Lavrynovych, from Sydenham, faces three counts of arson with intent to endanger life. Carpiuc, a Romanian national born in Ukraine and residing in Romford, and Pochynok, from North London, have been charged with conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.
Timeline of targeted attacks on Starmer properties
The series of fires began on 8 May when a car was set ablaze outside Sir Keir Starmer’s street in Kentish Town. On 11 May, another fire was reported at a front door of a residential flat in Islington. The most serious incident occurred on 12 May, when a fire was started at Starmer’s private residence, now his home address while serving as Prime Minister.
The Met Police continue to investigate the full circumstances and have not ruled out further arrests.
