A next-generation continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device, Yuwell Anytime, has officially launched in the UK to aid in the fight against Type II Diabetes prevention. Backed by health expert Dr. Dawn Harper, the initiative aims to raise awareness during NHS Type II Diabetes Prevention Week and promote more effective tools for early detection, management, and remission of the disease.
Type II Diabetes now affects the vast majority—90%—of the 5.8 million people currently diagnosed with diabetes in the UK. Shockingly, the number has already surpassed the 2025 forecast of 5 million, made just seven years ago. In addition, there are an estimated 1.3 million people living with undiagnosed Type II Diabetes and another 6.3 million classified as prediabetic.
Without timely intervention, most prediabetic individuals are expected to develop the disease, placing further strain on an already overstretched NHS.
Yuwell Anytime Campaign Promotes Prevention and Remission
Dr. Harper and the Yuwell Anytime campaign are urging for greater access to CGM technology for prediabetic individuals and those with non-insulin-dependent Type II Diabetes. These devices offer real-time insight into how diet, stress, and exercise impact blood sugar levels, helping patients take control of their health and work towards remission.
Type I Diabetes is currently incurable, but Type II can be prevented or even reversed through lifestyle changes. Promoting better health screening and equipping the public with CGM devices could transform outcomes and reduce future diagnoses.
Financial Strain on NHS Intensifies
The NHS currently spends £10.7 billion annually on diabetes care—10% of its entire budget. This translates to around £1.85 million per person each year. Diabetes UK estimates that this figure will rise to £18 billion per year by 2035, though current trends suggest it could exceed £25 billion well before then.
Increased cases of diabetes are also tied to rising rates of heart disease and other secondary illnesses, further driving up healthcare costs.
Act Now to Curb the Growth of Type II Diabetes
The UK could face over 13.4 million diabetes cases by 2035 if action is not taken. Advocates believe early screening and the use of CGM technology must become core strategies in public health policy. The Yuwell Anytime campaign’s message is clear: by investing in prevention today, the UK can save billions in future NHS costs and drastically improve the quality of life for millions.
