Bond, the UK network for organisations working in international development, has announced a new partnership with top law firm Russell-Cooke to provide dedicated legal guidance and support for charities and NGOs across the country.
Russell-Cooke is widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading legal experts in the charity and not-for-profit sector. The firm offers specialist advice to hundreds of organisations on areas such as governance, employment law, fundraising compliance, charity regulation, property matters, and Charity Commission investigations.
As part of this new collaboration, Bond and Russell-Cooke will host a series of events over the next year, delivering legal insights and updates on issues that directly impact the work of NGOs. Key focus areas will include changes to fundraising legislation, charity employment law, and navigating compliance with the Charity Commission.
Michael Wright, Bond’s Director of Membership and Communications, said the partnership would provide invaluable resources for charities facing an increasingly complex legal and regulatory landscape. He stated that the initiative would help NGOs stay informed and prepared, empowering them to operate confidently within legal frameworks.
Carla Whalen, a partner in Russell-Cooke’s charity and not-for-profit team, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration. She emphasised the challenges NGOs face in the current climate and highlighted the value of this partnership in delivering practical, accessible legal support to organisations working in international development.
This new initiative is expected to strengthen the legal resilience of UK charities and not-for-profits by improving their understanding of the legal environment, enabling them to better serve their communities both at home and abroad.
