Two men have been charged following a suspected pepper spray incident at Heathrow Airport that left more than 20 people needing medical treatment.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, will appear at Uxbridge magistrates court on Tuesday. HM Courts and Tribunal Service confirmed both men have been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of administering a noxious substance.
The incident took place on Sunday in a multi-storey car park at Terminal 3, where ambulance crews treated 21 people, including a three-year-old child, after they were exposed to a noxious spray believed to have been pepper spray. Five people were taken to hospital but have since been discharged.
Police said the spray was released after two women were robbed of their suitcases moments after stepping out of a lift in the car park. The suspects allegedly used the substance during the robbery, which then affected other members of the public nearby.
Authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances of the attack.
