A former NHS paramedic has won a stunning £4 million home in the picturesque Surrey Hills, along with £250,000 in cash, after entering an Omaze charity draw.
Father-of-two Alistair Walker, 33, from Darlington, discovered his incredible win on Halloween, calling it “the best treat I’ve ever had.” The luxurious property, complete with a swimming pool and scenic countryside views, marks a life-changing moment for the young family.
Mr Walker, who grew up in Surrey, said the win holds sentimental value. “I met my wife for the first time in Guildford when we were working together, it feels like it must be fate,” he said.
Now working as an NHS manager after a decade as a paramedic, he admitted he was “floored” when he realised he had won. “We’ve just had our second baby daughter, so this win has come at the perfect time. It’s the best feeling in the world knowing our daughters’ futures are secure – it’s absolutely incredible.”
Although the family have yet to decide whether to move in permanently, Mr Walker said they plan to visit soon. “We’ll definitely be taking the girls down there to enjoy some family time – our daughters can even learn to swim in their very own pool.”
Mr Walker won the prize through Omaze, a UK-based company that raises money for charities through high-profile prize draws. The Surrey Hills campaign generated £1 million for Breast Cancer Now, supporting vital research for people affected by the disease.
James Oakes, President of Omaze, said: “We’re absolutely delighted for Alistair and his family. Whether he chooses to move in, rent it out or sell and walk away a multi-millionaire, the choice is entirely up to him.”
The win not only transforms Mr Walker’s life but also contributes to a significant cause, making it a victory with impact far beyond the prize itself.
