A group of pro-Palestine protesters disrupted a staff event featuring BBC director general Tim Davie at the broadcaster’s headquarters in Glasgow.
Around 30 demonstrators gathered outside the BBC Scotland building at Pacific Quay, waving Palestinian flags and chanting “shame on the BBC” as Davie addressed staff in the foyer.
Protesters briefly entered the front area of the building but did not reach the main reception. The event, which was being streamed internally and attended by dozens of BBC employees, was relocated to another section of the premises for safety reasons.
Police Scotland confirmed that five officers were dispatched to the scene.
The Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee, a campaign group critical of the BBC’s reporting on the Gaza conflict, shared footage of the protest online. The group said the demonstration was organised to highlight what it described as biased coverage of the ongoing war.
Tim Davie and BBC Scotland director Hayley Valentine had been addressing staff on organisational strategy, performance, and initiatives aimed at improving workplace culture when the disruption occurred.
The BBC has been approached for comment.
