A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman at a residential property in Crewe, Cheshire.
Cheshire Police confirmed that officers were called to an address on Heron Crescent at around 2am on Sunday, where they discovered the body of a 47-year-old woman. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained.
The woman’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers as the investigation continues.
A 53-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody for questioning. Police say he is cooperating with detectives and assisting with their enquiries.
Chief Superintendent Gareth Wrigley said additional patrols will be carried out in the area to provide reassurance to the local community, although the incident is believed to be isolated.
“I would like to ask the public not to feed into any speculation, particularly on social media,” Ch Supt Wrigley said.
“As part of our ongoing enquiries, we are appealing to anyone who may have relevant information, CCTV, or dashcam footage from the area during the early hours of Sunday to come forward.”
Cheshire Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and have urged anyone with details that could assist to contact them directly.
