A young schoolgirl has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car on a busy street in Glasgow.
The incident occurred around 6:15pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, on Dunkenny Road, near Drumchapel Park, in the north-west of the city.
Emergency services quickly responded to reports of a collision between a car and a 10-year-old pedestrian.
The girl was transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Her condition has not yet been confirmed.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said, Around 6.15pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Dunkenny Road, Glasgow.
“Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a ten-year-old girl, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.”
Dunkenny Road is a residential area with several schools and parks nearby, making it a frequently used route for families and children.
Drumchapel, a suburb of Glasgow, has seen previous road safety concerns raised by residents, particularly regarding speeding vehicles and pedestrian safety.
In recent years, local campaigners have pushed for improved road safety measures in the area, such as lower speed limits, additional pedestrian crossings, and traffic-calming measures to prevent further accidents.
