Thousands of homes in the SN6, SN26, GL7 and GL8 postcode areas are currently without water due to multiple burst pipes in the Cricklade area, Wiltshire.
Thames Water has confirmed that a key reservoir supplying these regions has been affected, leaving residents with little to no water pressure.
Thames Water stated that “complex repairs” are underway to address the burst pipes. The incident has forced the company to work in challenging conditions.
At one site—a field near the A419—engineers are busy pumping out large volumes of flood water to safely access and repair the damaged pipework.
However, due to the location and intricate nature of the repairs, it is expected to take some time before full restoration of the water supply is achieved.
To minimise the impact on residents, Thames Water has arranged for bottled water to be delivered throughout the day to priority service customers, including those with disabilities or chronic health conditions.
Additionally, water tankers are being deployed to transfer water from other areas, ensuring that essential taps remain operational wherever possible.
The recent burst pipes in Cricklade have left a significant number of households struggling with water shortages. Such incidents are not uncommon in the region, particularly during periods of high demand or adverse weather conditions.
Thames Water, responsible for maintaining the water infrastructure, is working diligently to resolve the issue and restore normal service to the affected communities.
Residents in the SN6, SN26, GL7, and GL8 postcode areas are advised to monitor updates from Thames Water via their official website and social media channels. If you are a priority customer, look out for bottled water deliveries.
In the meantime, please consider reducing water usage and report any issues to Thames Water’s customer service team for assistance.
Thames Water apologised for the inconvenience caused and reiterated its commitment to getting the water supply back to normal as swiftly as possible.
