Protests in solidarity with Palestine kicked off 2025 across the UK, drawing attention to the dire healthcare crisis in Gaza and alleged human rights abuses.
In Wales, campaigners held a healthcare-focused demonstration outside Maelor Hospital in Wrexham.
Protesters condemned what they described as the “destruction of hospitals and healthcare facilities in Gaza” and the reported deaths of Palestinian medical professionals due to Israeli military actions.
In Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, a freedom march was organised on Saturday by Huddersfield Freedom for Palestine, while hundreds took to the streets of Manchester for a weekly protest led by Greater Manchester Friends of Palestine (GMFP).
John Nicholson of GMFP shared harrowing accounts from Gaza, “We had speakers from Palestine.
“Ghassan reported from one of his friends who is one of the doctors still in northern Gaza.
“The Israelis invaded the hospital, rounded up all the men and made them strip naked.
“Then they brought the women and children and made them watch as they shot the men randomly.
Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) is hosting a rally in Parliament Square tomorrow to support Gaza’s healthcare workers. A spokesperson stated, “Israel is escalating its attack on Palestinian healthcare system — attacking hospitals and imprisoning hundreds of healthcare workers.
“Join us to demand our government takes action to save Gaza’s healthcare workers.”
The next national demonstration for Palestine is scheduled in London on January 20, with organisers calling on supporters across Britain to unite against the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
